YPOC’s fifth annual Juneteenth HBG celebrations kick off on June 15 and run through June 21, with a special Juneteenth Jubilee on the holiday itself, June 19, 2024 

As Juneteenth approaches, YPOC (Young Professionals of Color) is gearing up for an unforgettable celebration that promises to empower Black and Brown professionals and communities.

Auditor General Timothy L. DeFoor kicked off the Young Professionals of Color- Greater Harrisburg’s Juneteenth celebrations as the Honorary Chair at a joint press conference with local leaders to recognize the importance of the holiday and reflect on the nation’s history.Young Professionals of Color-Greater Harrisburg (YPOC) will host the Juneteenth Harrisburg Celebration this year featuring a week long of new events.

The Keri Hilson and Shad “Bow Wow” Moss show reminded concertgoers of the 106 & Park TV-show era. The Juneteenth concert, held at XL Live in Harrisburg on June 18, was sold out, but attendants had to request a ticket for the free event.

It’s about celebration, history, reflection, rest, education and economics. People may spend the day differently, but one thing’s for sure—it’s an important holiday for all.

 HARRISBURG, April 25 – The Pennsylvania Legislative Black Caucus today joined the Wolf administration and the nonprofit Voices Underground in celebrating the inaugural awarding of Journeying Toward Freedom grants through the Pennsylvania Tourism Office, according to PLBC Chair and state Rep. Donna Bullock, D-Phila. 

 This year's motto for Juneteenth is "one city, one team, one economic impact," said Kimeka Campbell, founder of Young Professionals of Color and an organizer of a series of Juneteenth events in the region this year. Economics, she said, plays a critical role in the Juneteenth conversation and, indeed, in the greater racial and economic justice conversation.
